‘Michelle®’ (‘11’) x ‘Michelle®’ (‘1’)

Awarded “Best New Flowering Plant” at the 2022 TPIE Show (Tropical Plant International Expo) – Tampa, Florida – USA.

In medium-filtered light, this F5 DocBlock hybrid boasts an extraordinarily dark emergent leaf with purple veins that evolve into burgundy-black hues with contrasting white veins. It only differs slightly from ‘Michelle’ ‘1’ in that its leaf size is a little smaller, but the petioles are proportionately longer and more vertical, giving this awarded plant’s appearance as a more upright presentation.

Pollen Parent: As with all DocBlock’s ‘Michelle’ hybrids. the point at which the petiole’s veins emerge forms an “X” shape along the leaf’s central axis, and it retains color as the leaf matures. The front of the leaf evolves from emergent purple with lighter contrasting vein colors; growing through black hues; and maturing into dark green hues with white contrasting veins. The reverse-side of the leaf is a negative image that evolves from emergent purple; lightening through lavender hues; and maturing into light green hues with darker contrasting vein colors consistent with the petiole.
