Anthurium Michelle®’ ‘1’ x ‘Minerva®’ ’20’ by DocBlock® *Grower’s choice*
Anthurium ‘Michelle® Awarded “Best New Flowering Plant” at the 2022 TPIE Show (Tropical Plant International Expo) – Tampa, Florida – USA has now been bred with a unique elongated leaf cultivar of ‘Michelle®’ (so-named after Dr. Block’s wife: “Michelle”). This unique leaf form has since been named Anthurium ‘Minerva®’… Accordingly, named after Dr. Block’s maternal grandmother.
In medium-filtered light, Anthurium ‘Michelle®’ AND ‘Minerva®’ each boast extraordinarily dark emergent leaves with purple veins that evolve into burgundy-black hues with contrasting white veins.
The point at which these hybrid’s petiole veins emerge form an “X” shape along the leaf’s central axis, and these veins retains color as the leaf matures. The front of the leaf evolves from emergent purple with lighter contrasting vein colors; growing through DARKER black hues; and maturing into dark green hues with white contrasting veins. The distinctive back-side of the leaf’s “negative image” evolves from emergent purple and then turns LIGHTER through lavender hues, ultimately maturing into light green hues with contrasting vein color consistent with the petiole.
