Several decades ago, the original Anthurium ‘Dark & Handsome®’ plant genetics were collegially shared with Dr. Block from a Monroe Birdsey cutting. DocBlock then selected for this cultivar’s chocolate-color new leaf expression against its chartreuse-colored veins. The maturing leaves develop medium-green hues.  In this hybrid, ‘Dark & Handsome® has been bred with ‘Black Widow®’ pollen to produce an extended lineage of dark foliage genetics. Most of these first release hybrid Anthuriums seem to resemble their ‘Dark & Handsome’ seed parent more closely. This hybrid has limited availability!
